You know who you are.

Have a little slice and we'll say no more about it.

McLaren is a great coach, who anyone who played for him will agree with.. Not all great coaches make great managers.

we'll have to agree to disagree on McLaren. I have no idea why anyone would think he's a decent manager.

he took over a good derby side and was given decent money to spend. he couldn't even get them in the play offs last year. his reward? a job in the premiership.

he's been at Newcastle 3 months now and on Saturday they looked unorganised and unmotivated. he's got to take a fair bit of the blame for that. and laughing through interviews after defeats won't do much to win over the fans.

I'd have been gutted if he'd been chosen over Bilic and find it truly baffling he could have been anyone's first choice.

Re: The Humble Pie Thread
I was over the moon when he got Bilic. I absolutely fucking loved him as a player. He was strong, intelligent and, what a I loved most about him, was he was a crafty player.

I must admit though that I did get worried after the Arsenal game. Two home losses, Zarate and Valencia injured, media concerns about our chances, talk of delays in Carroll's return, the OS deal rearing its head again and a real lack of activity with regard to attackers.

It seemed like anyone and everyone was having a dig at West Ham and we were slowly spiralling.

I was really down and hoped my dream of seeing Bilic as a success wasnt going to be ruined by the realities and harshness of the situation.

But, since that deadline day, those players coming in, it seemed like a cloud had been lifted. Then 9 points later here we are.

I'm fucking loving it.

If you win the bet, I will pay you out - It's as simple as that. I'm not going to lose sleep over 50 English pounds!

I still think McLaren is a good manager. I think he happens to be in charge of a poisoned chalice and a group of extremely poor players.

How are you feeling about our Newcastle/McLaren bet blbb?

Re: The Humble Pie Thread
I'm very pleased at the way they bounced back from the performances against Leicester and Bournemouth.

Three great away results - We are looking a lot better, some good passages of play, good work rate and some fantastic individual performances.

I will caveat this by saying it's still early doors, so the reverse knicker wetting maybe somewhat premature.

Make no mistake though - I am delighted with the recent goings on and long may it continue.

( I did mention us needing 3/4 players - and exactly that happened on the last day so hats off to the board)

Good work Glenn. It takes a big man to admit he was wrong.

I'll happily have a slice of humble pie every saturday.

Obviously it's very early days but based on everything so far it has been not far short of a genuis appointment.

The signings, style, tactics, the man management, energy, personality, the way he talks about the game is absolutely first class.

I just hope we can sustain it over a full season and not dip like last year because the work rate and shift that all the players are putting in through evry 90 minutes is extroadinary.

For all those who were promoting the Bilic appointment, i hold my hands up, take my hat off to you and take a big mouthful of pie.

Well done

my only moans/tantrums were about the weakened team in the europa league. the two home defeats were down to cuntish defending from cresswell & jenkinson, not much slav could do about that and both games we fought back and almost nicked a point. happy days

Quite a few of us, no names no pack drill, thought Bilic and West Ham were a great match.

Early days I know, but Jurcevic's arrival will take some of the early season strain off our new manager, and things are certainly looking bright with a really excellent squad bedding in well.

Re: The Humble Pie Thread
No humble pie for me. I wanted him in last summer not this. For an international manger of a very good side, and decent runs with decent European club sides, the media and many WHU supporters greatly underestimated Bilic.

But then I told you all that Cole was shit after one season and most of you decided to make him your club legend for the next seven.

In short most of you on here need a football education.

Re: The Humble Pie Thread
I think we'd all be liars if none of us claimed to have any doubts at all over a new manager.

However, he, the owners and the players have done a terrific job so far and we already have three extraordinary victories.

Long may it continue. We just need to find a way to be as effective at home as we are on the road!

Agreed. Hindsight is wonderful. At the time I was concerned.

As I said. Long may it continue.
